Alabama Story, Fall 2024

Welcome to Ghostlight’s Love As A Verb fundraising campaign crafted to support our most ambitious season to date AND also raise money for two Chicago area LGBTQ+ organizations.

The fundraiser is live with a base goal to raise $5,000 by November. Donations from the fundraiser will go towards artist stipends and production costs for its season with a portion of the proceeds going to local Chicago charities Brave Space Alliance and Gerber Hart Library & Archives.

Love As A Verb is inspired by a passage from All About Love by bell hooks: “The word ‘love’ is most often defined as a noun, yet all the more astute theorists of love acknowledge that we would all love better if we used it as a verb.”

Ghostlight Ensemble is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so any donation you give is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

What Your Contribution Goes Toward

Invaders of Mathmatica, February 2025

We are producing two mainstage productions this season — Angry Fags by Topher Payne and The Dover Road by A.A. Milne — as well as our Nightlight show for young audiences, our holiday co-production with the Driehaus Museum, a staged reading of a new play and a three-part cabaret, along with a number of other smaller events/shows:

Costs to do this include:

  • Paying our Artists!

  • Performance Space Rental

  • Rehearsal Space Rental

  • Design (Costumes, Lights, Props, Set)

  • Administrative Costs (Performance Rights, Insurance, etc.)
